Chaos Champion of Tzeentch, WIP #3

Alright. Almost there. And then again I really have trouble with the robes. Maybe that knife also could benefit from a little extra. Adding static grass to the base after posting this, and then next session will be about adding those extra final touches to make him work...

  1. Just thinking out loud here (if that is even possible with typing?), but I think maybe the robe needs more detail work? I think it's a problem with this mini, which I can't put my finger on. He looks too "clean" once painted up. It may just be me? Maybe there's nothing wrong with it? Coz you've paintings fine.

Anyway, my rambling critique is over :)

  2. Fine indeed, really like the approach to his 'face'. This is what I think makes the robes seem to plain. Which for me, brings a nice contrast.

  3. The bird parts are great but the robe does look a little flat. What if you painted the sleeves black and added a black flame pattern to the rim of his robe? It'd be subtle but still provide a lot of contrast.

  4. The robes needs some sort of detail work. If it were me, I'd add some sort of pattern, inscription, dirt and grime, or John Blanche flames to them.

  5. Thanks for the feedback. I was considering solutions ever since uploading the image yesterday. And as you comments have come in during the day I think I have an idea. I want to change the robes to a broken white and do a dark red flame pattern from the bottom rim and upwards.
