WIP images: Eldar Farseer

Not finished yet, and I already want to paint this model again...

I still have runes and borders on robes and cloak left to do before I will call him finished...

  1. Wow, really excellent stuff. I love the textures you're bringing to the Eldar. Not many people do that, but I think it just adds a layer of realism that is really pleasing to me.

    1. Thanks - I think the subtle textures on the white is a nice interpretation of the living armour.

  3. what colors are you using to shader the white? Also are you just shading over a white base coat or painting the white? It looks really smooth!.

    1. Subtle washes (thinned down Vellejo mahogany sand) over a white undercoat. Then deeper shades painted in (mahogany sand + purple wash), then highlights using pure white. Stipple on black with a sponge very carefully. And finally add scratch-highlights to the black texture detailing. I find the white actually work best without too much shading.

    4. Thanks for the reply, will be a great help! I recently had a go with this model and really struggled to get a good looking white base form a black undercoat. No matter what I tried it ended up lookinga little lumpy. Any tips for gettinga godo white base layer over a dark undercoat? I will try to use a white spray undercoat for any whites in future, especially on shapes like these but sometimes you cant always work the model like that.

      Thanks again!

      Will
