Chaos Champion of Tzeentch, WIP #1

First images of the next old-school project. Another Chaos Champion. Now a follower of Tzeentch:

Instead of describing colours or writing them down, I am starting just to snap a photo of the colours involved in a certain area. So here we have the colours used for the robes. Actually, now, I am working my way over the area with another colour, but the general idea of just having an image of the paints used on a piece appeals to me. Then, if I need to get back to the colour I know where to start, but will have remember or just dinve in an improvise with the colours as the starting point.

After some work on the robes I am moving onto the skin and head to end the painting session with some nice details. Cool figure so far...

  2. I think I've painted mine up about two or three times over the years, still not happy :(

There's not too many examples of this particular mini that are painted up too well. He's a great sculpt, but not an easy one to come up with an interesting colour scheme I feel.

Looking forward to seeing him completed.

    Cheers :)

    1. Yeah, it is a hard mini to approach. My biggest issue is the robes which are really tricky to paint. Head and details are nicely sculpted. The robes - the front in particular - is hard to make work. At least I am having trouble. My approach is that I finish what I can, and then make the best touching up the robes when I just have that area left to paint.

My colour scheme is to match a previously painted Tzeentch army as well as fit in the group of Chaos Champions that I am painting. Btw, I just found the Khorne mini the other evening. The idea for the group is that the 4 models need to both match and provide contrast for each other at the same time.

  3. Yay!! This is one of my favourite old school minis!

Really happy you chose Tzeentch for your next champion - this is turning out to be quite an awesome project. Will he zoom around on a mushroomoid flying disc?

    1. Cheers Jeff Vader! No disc for this guy. However, I also have the moon-faced sorcerer with teh Tzeentch sickle who will definately get a disc for floating around...
