Cloak is sponged with MIG pigment African Earth mixed up in W&N matt varnish. Then I sponged on some black also. Finally some zenith highlights on the general shape of the cloak and then I used the same light yellow (Bubonic Brown + white) to exaggerate some of the black sponge marks as if they are tiny holes in the cloth. To do this I highlighted the cloak underneath the black dots to create the illusion of an edge that catches the light. Also lots of more work around the model, but not a lot completely finished.
Looking good. The subtle modelling of the knuckles and tendons on his hand is outstanding.
ReplyDeleteSweet!
ReplyDeletePretty amazing. I love it! I really think you are growing as a painter lately, which can hard after you've already reached a high-level. The airbrush work you did on this may be something you can develop into an amazing new style or technique. I don't know if you're familiar with Angel Giraldez at http://studiogiraldez.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteHe uses an airbrush, along side a traditional brush with some amazing results. Have a look.
This met all my expectations and more! All the small details make him look very much like high definition.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments. I think this project - and my own overall journey as an artist - is about taking more chances in the process and very important; just to have fun. Currently I strive for creating textures, structures, and an strong look and feel. Also trying to add a lot more contrat to my minis these days.
