So what's in the cabinet? Well, usually my most recent projects since they seem to correspond with each other. My display cabinet is about 35 x 35 cms. A single cubic space in a bookcase, two shelves. Duchess Death lurks in the back, the Deamonhost takes a central position in the second row.
Front row has another 40K character standing by ready for the first layers of paint. I see him as a sinister personality - a worker of schemes, no concience, and obsessed to overthrow the Imperium and bring discord into the known Universe.
Gorgeous work; have to say, the new Grey Knight, Empire, Undead and Vampire Counts ranges have been a massive boon of late to 28mm Inquisition forces. I barely look at the new models without downloading a part photo for a new Inquisition conversion myself :D
ReplyDeleteLook forward to the paint blogging for the lad in the foreground.
That fellow in front sure is sinister. His posing and the wind whipped cloak are very cinematic and I can easily imagine a swirling chaos gate spilling frothing monstrosities forming behind him. I'm thinking a few special lighting effects on him would go a long way.
ReplyDeleteYoure so right. Almost every new gw-kit these days seem to be potential =II= stuff. Be it fantasy or 40K.
ReplyDeleteLighting effects? Not a bad idea at all. Thanks.
Hi Jakob love the blog, your work is outstanding. Looking at the central model in just his base coat, are you base coating black and the layering some white over the top? A kind of base layer of shading, or is it just the pic?
ReplyDeleteExactly. Its a way of adding basic shading. Primer sprayed on in two steps. Black from underneath, then white from above. Next thing will be some quick laying down of colours using the airbrush spraying thin layers with the shading showing though.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds brilliant. I'm going to try it. Did you do it with the air brush or spray cans?
ReplyDelete@ Skeller: Just the basic Citadel spray cans. Nothing fancy. As if using an airbrush is fancy... :-)
