Victor Bela, muscle, and sniper

A Black and white image of Velk's interrogator, Victor Bela, in company of two of the retinue's henchmen:

Then an image of the three lined up for a quick photograph:

And last: A close up snap-shot of the muscle guy during one the INQvitational 2013 games that were played in Warhammer World last weekend:

Somehow I find that I like the various ways that the brute comes through visually. In the black and white image the black eyes look quite sinister and the way he towers behind Bela also adds to the appearence. In the line up the colours comes though nicely and you can enjoy the strong red, the weathered armour, and the dust and dirt worked into both base and the lower part of the model. Finally, on the action-shot the angle of photography and the close-cropped image gives a dramatic touch - I could believe he is has been falling back from heavy enemy fire and now with his back against the wall he will either make it or fall. You can just imaging the bullets hammering into the beached red of the wall. But also, miniaturepainting-wise, you get so close to the model that you for instance can see the quite simple way the white has been painted. You see the pinks, reds, and touches of ochre that makes up the flesh tones, and you see the traces of drybrushing on the base.

    1. Cheers. Those mutie rider torsos are indeed wonderful. The hard thing is to find the right parts to match them in a conversion.

  2. Really nice, characterful models these are! the sniper is particularly great, so frighteningly tall! Their weapons are great, not the standard-issue stuff. I like how you made a carbine las rifle by cutting the barrel off, it is very fresh and interesting looking that way. The sniper's rifle, being an old mutie weapon, is wonderfully archaic. Last but not least, it makes me smile seeing that old space marine powerfist! And a hand flamer!? Good times.

I hope they did well at the INQvitational!

  4. Nice to finally see Bella "in colores"! Lovely model - perhaps not the most masquline fella round the block, but that part of the charm.

Sniper is groovy - took me a while to place the old mutie. Ahhh...mutie raiders. That takes me back to my Gorkamorka days...

  6. That picture Tammy took is my favourite from the day. Gerald looks so imposing and the contrast next to the red is amazing.

One of these days you will have to actually come over and actually use your own warband:-) Though following on from Fulgrim's portrayal of Velk will be a tough act to follow.

  7. Fantastic picture indeed. I look forward to making it happen as soon as possible. However, I do really like the way these events has grown with people throwing in their skills and dedication were there is room and where it is possible. The shared vision to making these events special has very impressive to both see progress and to be part of.
